Misinformed Theologians
66If I were to make a list of things that I am absolutely sure of???
Number one on the list would be that religious scholars teach one misconception that has caused all of the confusion that exists concerning scripture.
That misconception is .. "Ya don't have to believe what Jesus said".
"Can't you see" ? "He didn't mean that that way"!
"He had to really mean something else". We have to interpret what he said this way , and that way and then back that other way and if ya stand on one foot and squint your eyes this way , you can then see that I am right. Wrong!
We have to remember that all of the prophesy written in the old testament was written to that Hebrew Nation that ceased to exist around 135 to 138 AD.
The prophesy written in the book of Isiah are approx. 2700 years old. and was written for the benefit for those Hebrew people. If they were foretelling things that were to come to pass yet in our future, they would have been of NO use to those that they were given to . Worthless for the next 2700 years. The same can be said for the messages that were given to EZEKIEL, and Daniel.
Christians say that Gods timing is perfect. The Lord is not going to give a message to me that is intended for some unknown person that will be born long after I am gone.
Here it is ! What I have been talking about. Read it very carefully and do not change the meaning of his words! Don't take away from or add to his words. And remember the words of second Peter 1:20. "Knowing this first, that no prophesy of the scripture is of any private interpretation". Yet , theologians have been doing just that sense the beginning of the church age! Why ?.
" VERILY VERILY I say unto you,... THIS generation shall not pass away til ALL these things be fulfilled"
He was talking about THAT generation that he was standing in front of. He was talking about THAT generation that he was talking to.
Not to some other generation 2000 years in the future.
When we change the meaning to this message to mean something else ... THE WHOLE STORY GeTs ScRamBled aLl uP anD yA
cAn'T mAKe MucH SenSE ouT of it, afTeR thAT
And this was done on purpose. Why ?
It does not matter how many times that scripture is translated from the original texts, when we change the meanings of the most simple statements such as this one, we loose all understanding.
Scripture also says that Jesus spoke in front of a crowd and said "Some of you standing here shall not taste of death until you have seen the son of man coming in the clouds of heaven, sitting at the right hand of Power." If we are to believe what Jesus actually said; The second coming of Christ was fulfilled in the first century. About the time that John received the Revelation while on the Isle of Patmos. Why would the church change the meaning of Jesus' message when they are at the center of their doctrine?
The answer to this question will answer a host of other questions that people have been searching for. Jesus is the rock that we should be standing on. Not anyone else.
Use your logic and not your interpretive skills. Or the interpretation of others.
Misinformed theologians were taught what to teach by misinformed theologians.
That is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Jerami, Well said, and stick to your story! I think this is why Jude tells us to "contend for the Faith!" It is important to KNOW the WORD of GOD so we are not tossed to and fro...
Thank you for sharing, In HIS, Love, Grace, Joy, Peace & Blessings!
Absolutely! I was brought up in the Roman Catholic faith, and with all the researching that I have done of late, I would say I'm more in line with being a Messianic Jew now. :-) I firmly believe in using the King James Version of the Bible and I use it along with Strongs in order to get, what I hope to be, a more accurate account. Great hub. Thank you.
I just don't know Jerami. I cannot fault your hubs concerning the prophetic weeks and the message of Gabriel to Daniel. I cannot fault your hubs concerning the message of Jesus to THAT generation. Indeed your logic concerning the 2nd coming of Christ shortly after the message to John on Patmos also seems very plausable. But my difficulty is this. Throughout the OT we are told that the Earth will be full of the knowledge of God. The jews are all waiting for the Mashiach to establish His kingdom on Earth and the church is waiting for His second coming to do the same thing. Yet when He talks about clouds of glory and I look at the final events of Revelation I cannot help but see these as being in the future some 200 years from now in accordance with the Hebrew calendar.
Either way thanks for standing up against the tide of 'imminent Revelation doom' bandwagon. I'm not convinced that any of these exciting events will be happening in my lifetime either.
Outstanding Hub, Jerami.
In the Bible I have read that we can do the miracles Jesus did and even greater.
One minister's website quibbles with the meaning here, taking this to mean that millions of Christians acting together are a powerful force in the physical world. Blah, blah-blah, blah, blah!
Methinks he has not yet tasted true faith. Peter tasted it for a moment when he stepped out of his storm-tossed boat onto the rocking Sea of Galilee. For a moment he left "reason" behind and found the fearlessness of perfect confidence and humility. He was, in that moment, invulnerable, immortal and walking with God. Then he looked back -- like Lot's wife -- at the physical and felt his attachment to things, like his own body.
The Catholic Church did many bad things in the name of Christianity, but one thing they did that is a blessing. Despite the perversion of scripture by their interpretation, they kept the work alive through turbulent times.
Now, in the era of democracy and freedom, we can throw off the yoke of tyrannical interpretation and search for truth. This is the age of spiritual freedom. This is our opportunity.
The Catholic Church likes to call Peter their first pope, though I'm sure he would be surprised to know he had been so elected.
I wonder...
How many other popes have walked on water?
The abomination that makes desolate occured around 70AD. That abomination according to Luke was the surrounding of Jerusalem by Roman armies. That puts the 2nd coming squarely in the generation Christ spoke to. Grace be with you.
Luke said the surrounding of Jerusalem was the abomination: 70AD--that makes desolate: 135AD.---- 70AD was the End of Israel as a nation. The total destruction, ie desolation followed years later. Just my thoughts.
Luke 21:20
This is an excellent Hub and I totally agree with the content. The dialogue in the comments section is also interesting and informative. I reckon my view is more in keeping with Gusser's comments on AD 70.
Keep searchin.
